Stairway to Heaven: Powell and Pressburger manage to straddle actuality and fantasy in a most disarming approach in this irregular tale of a guide in WW2 who claims he was unintentionally selected to die, and should now plead for his life in a Heavenly court. Cast includes David Niven, Kim Hunter, Raymond Massey, Roger Livesey, Robert Coote, Marius Goring, and Richard Attenborough. (104 minutes, 1946)

Hail Mary: An uninteresting, overblown updating of the tale of Christ's birth, with Mary a student basketball competitor! Even though still a virgin, she finds herself pregnant. This film kindled much dissension and was even condemned by the Pope. Cast includes Myriem Roussel, Thierry Rode, Philippe Lacoste, Manon Anderson, and Juliette Binoche. (107minutes, 1985)

Club Extinction: A wave of suicides stuns future Berlin. Patrol investigator Niklas starts to suspect engagement of Beals, spokesperson for an Eden like resort, who's connected to media tycoon Dr. Marsfeldt (Bates). Cast includes Alan Bates, Jennifer Beals, Jan Niklas, Hans ZiscWer, Benoit Regent, Peter Fitz, Andrew McCarthy, Wolfgang Preiss, and Isolde Barth. (112 minutes, 1990)

Agency: An eccentric mind bender, loaded with plot deceptions, in regards to imaginative boy (Keyworth) whose dad is a cop and whose mom is blind. The father is chasing a man on a murderous bender in which the people dying are all sightless ladies. Cast includes James Fox, Fanny Ardant, Paul McGann, Clare Holman, Robert Stephens, David Thewlis, Susan Wooldridge, and Ben Keyworth. (94 minutes, 1981)

The Stalking Moon: An army scout helps a white female who has lived with the Apaches flee from the Indians with her half breed child. Then the boy's Indian dad comes after them. The film is a convincing and fascinating Western that is both smooth and boring. Cast includes Gregory Peck, Eva Marie Savior, Robert Forster, Noland Clay, Russell Thorson, and Frank Silvera. (109 minutes, 1969)

No End in Sight: A masterful big screen production tantamount of the plethora novels that share on-the-record accounts from prior armed forces and covert operations outfits to clarify how the Bush management jumped before it looked in 2003 before invading Iraq. A standout in what is already a litany of Iraq conflict documentaries. (102 minutes, 2007)

The Slave: Interminable Italian spectacle. A child of Spartacus learns of the tale of his dad and promises retribution. The excellent photography is the only positive aspect of this film. Cast includes Steve Reeves, Jacques Semas, Gianna Maria Canale, and Claudio Gora. (102 minutes, 1963)

Me without You: A timid and tender Williams and a straight and extroverted Friel have been best friends as long as they can remember, however as they come of age their kinship is compromised. This somewhat captivating chick flick has some good scenes, but it doesn't quite gel. Cast includes Anna Friel, Michelle Williams, Oliver Milburn, Trudie Styler, Marianne Denicourt, Steve John Shepherd, Nicky Henson, Allan Corduner, Kyle MacLachlan, and Anna Popplewell. (107 minutes, 2001)

Patton: This milestone in biographies finds Scott vivid as offbeat, radiant General George Patton, whose temper often erupts on demand during WW2. Malden is comparably impressive as General Omar Bradley in this intelligently written, finely wrought biographical war drama. Cast includes George C. Scott, Karl Malden, Stephen Youthful, Michael Hefty, Frank Latimore, James Edwards, Lawrence Dobkin, Michael Bates, and Tim Considine. (169 minutes, 1970)
