My Story: I Know How to Dunk a Basketball

By Ryan Lacioca

I'm about to share my story, as I am sure that there are heaps of you out there who have been through what I have been through, envisioning the day you would at long last be able to put down a good, powerful jam on the basketball court.

All that I can say is that I was just like you very recently. All of it changed about two years back, which I'm going to get to in a moment. Before I begin, I'm going to give you a little background info regarding myself. I go by Blake, I'm foot nine, and I deem myself a relatively nice athlete.

Growing up, basketball was always my favorite sport, and I desired nothing further than to figure out how to dunk. I would see the slam dunk contest on TV every year, play on the Nerf hoop in my room, and if there was YouTube back then, I can nearly guarantee you that I would have been on it every, seeing highlights left and right.

Anyway, I was on my high school basketball team. I was consistently a strong player, one of the better ones on my team, but I was never able to dunk. It was a mixture of my height along with the reality that my quads, hamstrings, and calves (and some additional issues that I'd later discover about) were not muscular enough, and I had not a clue about how to dunk a basketball.

I ultimately let up on learning how to dunk a basketball. It was not the end of life as I knew it, however it was somewhat upsetting. Well, at least I was, still, pretty good at basketball.

Long story short, a few more years elapsed after high school, and one day I came into contact with an old friend named James. He was a few inches shorter than me, and I watched him dunk right in front of my very eyes. I was literally stunned!

James proceeded to introduce me to a training course that altered the way I jump. I now know how to dunk a basketball...and I can dunk with flare.
